What is the Festival of Practice?
The Festival of Practice is a week-long learning event for all professionals in Stoke-on-Trent who work with adults, children and families. The five days are fully packed with over 40 one-off free learning sessions for you to pick and choose to tailor around your own learning and to develop your continuous professional development.

What events will be taking place during the Festival of Practice?
Over half of the sessions throughout the week will be relevant to both professionals who work with adults and children which encourages a one-team approach to learning. All sessions align with both the key strategic visions as well as the safeguarding priorities.

The bitesize style sessions include: ‘Trading Standards: Doorstep Crime, Rogue Trading and Scams’, ‘Mind the Gap: Transitional Safeguarding’, ‘Shared Lives Stoke- Who is it for and What does it do?’ and so much more!

Some of our brilliant internal staff will be hosting sessions as well as inviting external partners such as NDTi, INSIGHT Academy and Social Work England. There is definitely something for everyone.

Who is involved in the Festival of Practice?
The Festival of Practice has been co-created by the Adult Social Care, Children and Family Services directorates, Stoke-on-Trent’s Safeguarding Children Partnership and Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Adult Safeguarding Partnership Board.

We are welcoming our multi-agency partners such as Keele University and Staffordshire University, health colleagues, Staffordshire Police and the voluntary sector. We are also pleased to welcome foster carers and have them join us at the Festival of Practice this year.
