The organisers say: “Soft skills and employability are words that come up consistently from businesses when discussing their recruitment and retention – but what does it actually mean?”
The free event at the Hilton at St George’s Park, Burton Upon Trent from 8:30am on 20 January will see the Chamber’s employment forum and breakfast event cover topics including:
- Can soft skills be broken down to specific competencies? And are they universal?
- Do we have different levels of expectations for school leavers, college leavers, graduates and 25+ new recruits?
- At interview how can soft skills be assessed – and are they adapted for the level of position?
- Inductions and onboarding – do these vary upon level and age? Should they?
The Chamber aim to use the session to produce actionable points that can be used for the development of its Local Skills Improvement Plan.
These outcomes include what training would be expected to support candidates prior to joining a workforce and what training for soft skills is needed upon employment to help support retention and development.
